The recorded “Match the Hatch” online class is geared towards the beginner/intermediate angler. Understanding basic entomology is key to becoming an independent angler. This course focuses on fishing rivers and the four main orders (mayfly, caddis, stoneflies and midges). This class begins with a foundation of terminology and definitions of flies and learning how to classify aquatic insects.  We then go into great detail about the 5 factors when choosing a fly.  Next, we discuss the four fly categories (searching, impressionistic, imitative, and attractors) and give fly examples for each category.  Entomologist Megan Hess walks us through the lifecycles and shares fly patterns that mimic specific stages of the four most common orders.  After "Intro to Entomology" we go through the characteristics of a hatch and give suggestions for fly patterns to fish within each hatch stage.  Finally, we discuss how to find and use hatch charts and share Megan and Heather's Top 20 Fly Patterns.  Clas
