Covers contain moderate to heavy shelf wear, including stains, bumped corners, and fraying edged of spine,  and heavy fading of gilt on spine. Pages are clean and in great shape with some light stains here and there. Volume 9 is the only one in acceptable condition, contains heavy wear on front cover and front inside joint. The front cover appears to have water damage but the pages are still in very good condition, clean. Bindings are tight. Volume 4 front end page - page 4 of the content page contains tear toward top of page, (pictured).
