Glenmorangie 'Allta' Private Edition No. 10 51.2%

Allta (Scots gaelic for 'wild') is the 10th release from Glenmorangie's famous 'Private Edition' series and for the first time was made using a yeast that grows on barley fields near the distillery. Dr. Bill Lumsden's discovery and use of Saccharomyces diaemath yeast helps to develop the fruity character of this whisky, joining a biscuity and baked bread aroma, with classic notes of vanilla and citrus (madarin especially). At its higher bottling strength, it is quite big with buttery, creamy vanilla notes, orange syrup and a slightly earthy finish with sweet chilli lingering alongside mint. An exceptional new release from Glenmorangie that harks back to some old fashioned roots.
