And so it caught the heart of George Donals who in 1830 founded the Annandale distillery on the site. The site soon became home to one of the finest Single Malts in the country but was eventually forced to shut down. That is, until recently, when Prof. David Thomson and Teresa Church fell in love with the place, restored the distillery, and started making some fine Whiskies in the building again.
