An amazing Amaro from the oldest Grappa distillery in Italy. The beginning of the story of Nardini Grappa is basically the beginning of the story of Italian Grappa, period. Bortolo Nardini was born in 1739, at a time when distillers of Wine pomace had to move from house to house to get their pomace. An accident on Nardini’s travels made him stop at Bassano del Grappa and it was his incredible vision made him stay there. He bought the Osteria al Ponte, which is today’s Grapperia Nardini. For the first time ever, Grappa was produced with a permanent still and Winegrowers were bringing their pomace to the distiller. In 1779, Nardini Grappa a.k.a. the first Grappa of Italy was created. Since then, they’ve been rather busy continuously improving their process; in 1860, a steam still was used for the first time in the production of Grappa.
