Originally associated with the Stitzel-Weller distillery founded by Julian 'Pappy' Van Winkle Sr., the brand persevered after the family sold the distillery. Julian Van Winkle III eventually moved bottling operations and secured whiskey stocks to continue the legacy, introducing the Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve line.
