Fritz Haag Bruneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Goldkap Auslese #12 2003 Wilhelm Haag at Fritz Haag has again produced Rieslings of great depth and restraint with considerable minerality and focus in 2003. Not unlike other regions in Europe, the 2003 German vintage was marked by a hot summer which realized a group of concentrated and age-worthy Auslesen and dessert wines. The vintage separated the men from the boys amongst winemakers, and Wilhelm Haag showed why he is on the shortlist of the best in the country. According to importer Rudi Wiest: "The aromas are somewhat more reserved than you’d expect, with lemons, pear and wet slate and stones.
