Camut Rarete Calvados

Camut Rarete Calvados Calvados produced in the Pays d’Auge region of Normandy, France, at the Domaine de Semainville by seventh-generation distillers Jean-Michel, Emmanuel, and Jean-Gabriel Camut. Distilled from 100% apples grown in orchards planted in the hautes-tiges style; many of the apples are heritage varieties. Wonderful nose combines nuts and preserved apples. The mouth has a superb texture, combining baked apples and spice with a creaminess including notes of exotic vanilla. A subtle wood spice emerges and meshes well with the fruit, showing the age of this beautiful Calvados but never overwhelming the fruit. The finish is long and continues in gentle, warming waves reminiscent of the sun evaporating the morning dew over the rolling hills of Normandy.
