Balvenie Portwood 21 Year Old Single Malt 43% Release To create The Balvenie PortWood 21 year old single malt whisky, a marriage of rare Balvenie is transferred to port casks, or pipes, which have held fine port wines. Sampled regularly by our Honorary Ambassador and Former Malt Master Malt Master to ensure that just the right amount of character is imparted by the port casks, which enhance and develop the single malt whilst preserving its original characteristics. The first traditional whisky oak maturation mellows the spirit and builds character. A second cask ageing is at the heart of The Balvenie Portwood and produces a single malt of refinement and remarkable complexity. Secondary maturation in 30 year old tawny port pipes brings extra layers of complexity to this soft and honeyed single malt.
