Alvar Aalto Vase, 8.75" - Two Color Variants
The Alvar Aalto Collection has been one of the most iconic and enduring pieces of Finnish design. Sometimes called the Savoy Vase because it was designed by Alvar Aalto and his wife Aino Aalto for the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki, Finland. The Aalto vase was originally inspired by the hem of a woman's dress of the Sami people, an indigenous people that live in northern Sweden, Finland and Norway. Aalto created this classic series of glass vases in 1936 and the vase was displayed at the 1937 World's Fair in Paris. Today, just as then, each and every vase in the Alvar Aalto Collection is mouth-blown at the Iittala glass factory. Created in a wide range of colors and sizes, a vase from the Aalto Collection is a pleasure to own or give as a gift. The Aalto Collection also includes votives inspired by Alvar Aalto, designed by Pentagon Design.
