Spain - Priorat Garnacha Red - Vintage: 2017 - Size: 750 ml. Alvaro Palacios is a Priorat winemaker established in 1990, when Alvaro Palacios bought his first vineyard, Finca Dofi. Palacios comes from a well-known winemaking family and he studied in Bordeaux before launching his own winery. The signature wines are Finca Dofi and L'Ermita. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that ÒL'Ermita comes from a parcel of 70-year-old vines of which 85% is Garnacha; the balance Carinena and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a benchmark for a great Priorat." Expert Notes Robert Parker: 98 There is even more Cariñena in this warm vintage, and the varietal breakdown of the 2017 L'Ermita comes to a majority of Garnacha but with a notable 20% Cariñena and some 2% of white grapes. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in oak vats and matured in oak barrels of different sizes for 16 months. The grapes were picked on the 18th of October, which is extremely late considering that 2017 was their earliest harvest ever! I
