Jindřich Halabala (1903–1978) was a pioneering Czech industrial designer, architect, and educator, best known for shaping modern furniture design in Czechoslovakia starting in the 1930s. He advocated for mass production and functional design, making high-quality modern furniture more accessible to the middle class. Though also made as an adjustable chair - this fixed version has gorgeous arc sweeping arms in dark-stained bent beechwood supporting a single shaped seat. This appears to be original fabric in textured wool in warm neutral beige with an earthy rust orange seat and single stripe accent. An exceptional and rarely seen pair. Czech, 1930s - 1940s. Sold as a pair.
