Atushi White Fig - 2- Cuttings - Ficus Afghanistanica - Great Fig for Sun Drying

The Atushi White fig is a new variety that we we created by germinating fig seeds from dried figs grown in Atush aka Artux, China. This fig variety produces figs that are very similar to the mother dried fig, and are perfect for sun-drying. Ficus Afghanistanica is a cousin to the common Mediterranean fig, ficus carica, and is widely grown throughout Afghanistan, Pakistan, India Oman, China, and Iran. This type of fig is most frequently grown for sun-drying, although it can also be eaten fresh. The figs are green to yellow color when ripe and have a light yellow/amber color interior and honey fig flavor. The figs will often split, but unlike other figs, splitting is considered a good quality with these figs becuase when the figs split that enables them to dry well and produces the best tasting dried figs, aka "open mouth" figs.
