Study Guide: IS-802: Emergency Support Functions (ESF) #2 - Communications Course Date April 1, 2024 Course Overview This course introduces Emergency Support Function (ESF) #2 – Communications. It focuses on coordinating government and industry efforts for restoring critical communications infrastructure, stabilizing systems from malicious activities, and supporting response efforts. Course Objectives Describe the overall purpose and scope of ESF #2. Identify the supplemental assistance ESF #2 provides to state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments. Explain the roles and responsibilities of the ESF #2 coordinator, primary agencies, and support agencies during an incident. Identify typical activities accomplished by ESF #2 resources. Describe the types of partnerships formed between ESF #2 and other response agencies and organizations. Primary Audience This course provides a high-level overview of ESF #2 for the emergency management community. Participants should ideally have a baseline knowledge of incident management and have taken related EMI courses.
