Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this cabinet features its original red lacquer, a perfect ground to the gilt Chinoiserie décor showcasing mountains and trees serving as a backdrop to the everyday life scenes one will discover upon closer inspection. Coming out of a traditional house, riding a horse or standing in front of a bridge, the characters are engaged in various occupations. Two doors, fitted with a nicely scrolled medallion with ornate brass pulls, open to reveal inner shelves and a lower compartment offering convenient storage opportunities. Raised on four straight feet with carved apron in the front, the cabinet showcases a darker lacquer on the recessed side panels. The ensemble boasts a nicely weathered patina.
