German Horten Ho229, Wunderwaffe - Academy 12583 By the end of the Second World War, two of Germany's best-known flying wing aircraft designers were the brothers Walter and Reimar Horten. The brothers contributed their expertise in this area into a specialized unit that was in charge of the production of tailless all-wing aircraft, including the Sonderkommando 9. In 1942 the advancement of the machine known as the Horten Ho IX began. It was fitted with two BMW 003A-1 jet engines. Although the first aircraft could only be produced as gliders due to the problems with the jet engines, a Jumo 004B-1 engine was given to the second prototype. The V2 made the very first flight in 1944 achieving speeds greater than 780 km/h. This kit contains transparent and plastic parts to faithfully recreate the Horten Ho229 with three finishing options in 1/72 scale. The fully assembled model is 10.4cm long and has a wingspan of 20.4cm. HIGHLIGHTS New 2023 Release 1/72 scale model kit German Horten Ho229
