Academy Models 12280 P-40C TOMAHAWK - Plastic Model Airplane Kit - 1/48
P-40C Tomahawk - Academy 12280 Modified from the Curtiss P-36 Hawk, the P-40 Warhawk took to the skies in 1938. “Warhawk” was the US designation, while the British Commonwealth and Soviets used the “Tomahawk” designation for their P-40B and C variants. The fuel tank improvements and armor additions made the P-40C variant heavier than earlier. The P-40 served with the British during the conflicts in North Africa and the Middle East early in WWII. Although the aircraft lacked a 2-speed supercharged engine like contemporary German aircraft, the P-40 proved a mighty low-altitude fighter. The production life of the P-40 resulted in nearly 12,000 aircraft built. This fully assembled model in a 1/48 scale is 198.1mm long and 83.8mm tall.
