Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: A Savannah Story

By John Berendt. The award-winning "nonfiction novel" (per Wikipedia) garnered comparisons to Welty and Faulkner and was a Pulitzer finalist.  This paperback isn't perfect -- a few pages with dog-ear ghosts and some pencil underlining -- but the spine is uncracked and straight, and it presents quite crisply if you can overlook a previous owner's occasional "research."
