All ERC clownfish are supplied and captive-bred under the strictest bio-security by Sea & Reef Aquaculture - the premier clownfish aquaculture experts.  Gold Lightning Maroon Clownfish is a designer clownfish that was created by breeding a Sea & Reef Lightning Maroon Clownfish with a Sea & Reef Gold Nugget Clownfish. The offspring from this unique crossing display a variety of interesting patterns (see group photo below). A remarkable feature about the Gold Nugget Maroon is that they start out white and as the fish grow, the color change from white to its final golden color. This typically happens when the fish is about 1 to 1 ½ years old and about 2” or a little larger. Since the Gold Lightning Maroon Clownfish is a new strain we are not yet sure yet if it will turn yellow as it matures. However, we expect that they probably will.
