Envig Compare-It Total Chlorine Reagent Test Kit
Overview Envig Compare-It total chlorine test kit is a colorimetric chemical test kit that determines the total chlorine concentration within a 0.2 to 5 mg/L (ppm) range. It is supplied with all of the necessary reagents and material to perform the analysis. The test kit is easy to use and has higher accuracy than a test strip. The test kit contains enough reagents to perform 10 tests. Relevance The chlorination of water supplies and polluted waters is used mainly to destroy or deactivate disease-borne pathogen by water facilities. Chlorine has been used traditionally, but more and more water plants now switch to chloramine. Total chlorine covers both free chlorine and chloramine. High amounts of chlorination will produce adverse effects like the formation of compounds that are potentially carcinogenic (e.g. chloroform) or harmful to aquatic life (e.g. chloramines). It is essential to remove chlorination as much as possible at the point of consumption to minimize any adverse effects. F
