It can be used with other media, however, because it is silicone, it will hold up to the heat and has flexible bristles that make it ideal for working on a hot box. The design of the brush ensures long-lasting performance and can provide even application of encaustic wax and other mediums. This particular brush is 2" wide and has some stiffness that allows it to pull off medium from the hotplate. It will also make both controlled and more spontaneous or random feeling lines.  Example Made With This Brush The 8.5"  handle allows the artist to dynamically move the brush across the plate creating interesting and unexpected marks.
