Size #8 the size most often suited to the typical clear water and moderate flow rates of Up North Michigan streams. Most colors have a contrasting spot color. Clown patterns have 4 colors. Flame & UV Moss Green work good by themselves. Egg flies are best fished dead drift near the bottom, under a strike indicator or bobber, with split shot 30 inches from fly. For bottom bouncing with lead, use long leaders 5 to 9 feet between the lead and fly.
