Nishimura Hodo: Moon Reflecting on Water Above a Seaside Village

A man balancing a pole with hanging boxes approaches a cluster of buildings whose windows glow a warm orange. Hodo seems to have worked exclusively for Takemura Hideo in Yokohama in the prewar period. Robert Muller had a number of his designs in his collection. Condition: Excellent impression and color; very good condition. Minor toning to verso and small paper accretion in water that seems to be from the time of printing.
