Ito Sozan: Heron on a Willow Branch

Artist: Ito Sozan (1884-?) Title: Heron on a Willow Branch A heron stands upon the sturdy branch of a large willow and turns its sharp gaze towards the upper branches. It is windy, and the willow boughs are in motion from the breeze. Beautifully printed; the sky behind the white bird is a yellow-orange, with grey approaching from beneath and above. Sozan was a specialist in kacho-e, bird-and-flower pictures.
