Artist: Kawase Hasui 巴水 Title: Winter Moon over Toyama Plain 戸山ヶ原 Date: 1931, Winter Fuyu no tsuki (Toyomagahara). Magnificent view of trees silhouetted against the winter moon. Hasui has written of this place: “The moon casts a pale blue light”. With the earliest seal used by the publisher on this work; the same seal is on the work shown in the Hotei catalog. This work is most perfect in this first edition; although reprinted later by Doi, this  first edition is in a class by itself in terms of the subtlety of its printing.
