Cherry Cleaver Board

The Cleaver features a fun, organic shape that has a lot going on; A sturdy handle for carrying or hanging; A beefy, one and a quarter inch of thickness; Beautiful, wavy cherry grain with some mineral spots(common in cherry); And a warm rustic feel and one side with some history. When making the Cleaver board, I had to decide what to do about some saw marks on one side.  If I planed the board down enough to remove them, the board would have been thinner and not had the sturdy heft that is has.  Being organic in form I decided to sand the saw marks to the point where they are just a hint of the original milling from tree to board. A nice and subtle nod to the reclaimed nature of the wood. dimensions: 21.75 x 10 x 1.25
