Unlace the sandal until you get to the buckle.2. Make sure you have the heel sleeve oriented the right way: the interior side of the heel sleeve is the soft brown side, the interior side of the lace is the side that touches your skin (with the stainless steel stitching).3. Then, place the heel sleeve and lace end-to-end to get the heel sleeve properly oriented to be routed onto the end of the lace.4. Insert your pliers through the first heel sleeve: poke the plier through the slot closer to the middle
