Camellia sasanqua ~ Sasanqua Camellia, White

Sasanqua Camellia is a dense evergreen shrub with glossy dark green leaves and clusters of single white or pink flowers that bloom from fall into winter.  The flowers are followed by small shiny fruits.  Best blooms occur in partial sun and acidic, well-drained soil.  This selection has white flowers. Too much water retention can increase susceptibility to fungal diseases, including root rot, black mold, blight, canker, anthracnose, and leaf spots.  Watch for aphids and spider mites.   Yellowing leaves indicate acidity too low. Fertilize monthly in spring and summer. If desired, remove all but one bud from each cluster to increase the size of the flower. Prune immediately after flowering.
