Boulder: Colorado Associated University Press, 1970. First edition. [88]pp; b&w plates. Square 4to. Black cloth; gilt spine; dust jacket. Signed by Adam to ffep in blue felt pen. Debut book by American photographer Robert Adams (b. 1937), noted particularly for his extensive explorations of shifting western landscapes; black-and-white photographs of white wooden churches "built throughout the western high plains from Montana to Texas." With a foreword by Thomas Hornsby Ferril. This copy with a spirited if somewhat crude extra-illustration to rear endpaper courtesy of a former owner, who has augmented Adam's choice of churches by mounting a photograph of the Berea Lutheran Church in Chappell, Nebraska, apparently clipped from some other publicatino: a surprisingly coherent addition.  Light bumping to base of spine and bottom corners; gift inscription inked to front pastedown; with three mounted elements to rear flyleaf, as noted below. Very good jacket unclipped, with moderate wear
