Visual Presentation of Invisible Processes: How to illustrate invisible processes in graphic design, 1965 [Anton Stankowski]
Visual Presentation of Invisible Processes: How to illustrate invisible processes in graphic design by Anton Stankowski, 1965. Verlag Arthur Niggli AG, Teufen, Switzerland. 9.5 x 12, pp. 128 with German, English and French text. Layout and jacket design by Anton Stankowski, Stuttgart. Printed in Switzerland. A thoughtful book with more than (350) black and white and color examples (some full page) illustrating Stankowski’s experiments and approaches to both personal and commissioned (free and applied) work problems. A useful volume for those interested in functional, geometric and problem-solving design ... and art. Introduction by friend and colleague, Hans Neuburg, who Stankowski worked with at the Max Dalang Agency, Zurich starting in 1929. “What he [Stankowski] was trying to do was to get to the heart of a material or function, to take a mental grasp of it in such a way that he was able to give shape and form to the sales idea he had formulated himself.” Informative commentary and captions throughout by Stankowski with assistance from Fritz Seitz who he thanks for his collaboration on the text of the chapters. A very good or better white hardcover with mild foxing to the dust jacket verso, cloth and a few page margins. Some pages have been lightly skinned from sticky pages along the margins only and not affecting any content. The jacket has two small chips to the upper corners; a small tear and a few tiny nicks with only light wear along edges. A wonderful copy and one of our favorite books ... practical and inspirational!
