Sutnar’s first one-man exhibition in the U.S.A. ran from January 10 to February 28, 1947 at the  A-D Gallery, Room 309, located at 130 W. 46th St., New York City. The gallery was sponsored by The Composing Room (founded by Dr. Robert Leslie and directed by Hortense Mendel who Sutnar thanked for her “invaluable aid” in the acknowledgments), the influential type-shop that helped advance the field of graphic design and the New Typography through their journals and exhibitions.
