Art Nouveau took many of its motifs from nature. The nature seen through eyes looking for the sensuous and erotic / exotic animals, insects shapes and languid figures of women. Plant motifs, in particular capture a sense of movement and growth with entwined stems and buds depicts at the point of burst into bloom.
