Even though coconut oil is typically antifungal, it’s also full of lauric acid which strengthens the Malassezia fungus. Why MCT Oil Is Safe MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil is made by distilling coconuts to remove the longer chain fatty acids - which feed the Malassezia fungus - while harnessing caprylic (C8) and capric (C10) acid, which the fungus can’t use as fuel.
