VY info - Pucalan Arenaria - About 10 acres in total planted in 2008-9  has granitic soil. avg 330 feet elevation Clos des Fous was founded in 2008 by four friends. They make wine with tension, from grapes grown in extreme terroir and with minimum cellar practices.  Right up our alley. Fresh & precise Pinot for Burgundy fans. Subtle cherry pit fruit and plenty of earthy tones in perfect balance, we could drink this all day. Savory nose of green peppercorn, autumn leaves, wet slate, and forest floor. Very pretty pale color is deceptive, as this falls closer to medium bodied for Pinot. Strawberry seeds, mushroom, and graphite on the palate. 91 WINE ADVOCATE serious with modest alcohol and good freshness.  The vineyard was planted  with Burgundy selections of Pinot.
