Pair of 1930s-inspired Machine Age Deco Bakelite/Catalin Lamps

Inspired by several iconic 1930's designs, these stunning art deco streamlined lamps exude the best of the "machine age" aesthetic with clean lines, machine inspired components, and a touch of beautifully marbled catalin. Catalin is a form of early phenolic resin (plastic), similar to bakelite, that was popular during the 1930s-1940s, and is highly collectible today due to its beautiful marbled colors. The catalin/bakelite parts on this piece are in good condition and have been polished by hand to bring out their deep and naturally varied color while retaining their natural patina. The metal components are nickel plated and polished to a high shine and separated with machined aluminum spacers.
