North of Sonoma, in an old logging territory reached via winding roads through the mists of a redwood forest, is one of the finest Pinot Noir regions in the country: the Anderson Valley AVA. With under 30 wineries (Napa and Sonoma each have over 400, by comparison), this little realm has been producing phenomenal single-vineyard releases for decades, but its tiny overall footprint doesn’t leave much for distribution.
