Tight, grey-green foliage rosettes give rise to rose-colored stems with widely-spaced leaves. Tight, dense, clusters of pale pink flower buds open in late summer to mauve-wine flowers. The buds open in a staggered fashion, so the huge flowerheads are bi-colored with pink and wine in the early stages of bloom. Leaves and dried flowerheads are attractive through winter.
