Coming to us from south and central Europe to the Caucasus, this fountain of small gray-green to plum-purple leaves holds small but significant deep pink flowers that fade to white around a yellow center. Bloom time is mid- to late-spring, attracting butterflies, followed closely by the vivid orange-red hips attractive to birds. Reddish-violet canes have few thorns and are good looking throughout winter. Disease-resistant; lightly fragrant. Mature size: 6-8 ft T, vase-shaped Minimum temperature: -40° F Featured on Great Plant Picks: https://www.greatplantpicks.org/plantlists/view/1348
