Fantastic large green leaves have prominent ribs and wavy, toothed margins making a small, shrubby tree from northeastern Turkey, Armenia, and the Caucasus Mountains. Its bark is somewhat fissured and gray-brown and its fall acorns appear in clusters of 2–5 at the shoot tips. 8-inch long olive-yellow catkins are significantly showy in April and May. Mature size: 10–20 ft T x 8–18 ft W Minimum temperature: -20º F
