Leathery green leaves that grow in large whorls top bare stems to an impressive size! Loose, open, chartreuse blooms appear late spring to early summer and are strongly honey-scented. It appreciates a well-drained site and is drought-tolerant once established. Tropicalesque in appearance! We have this plant in a few places in our gardens. It dies completely down to soil level in hard winters and resprouts in the spring. In full sun and a dry site, it is a full "shrub" during the summer 5 ft T x 5 ft W (2nd picture, taken Nov. 2024). In full shade and some summer water, it is 6 ft T and 4 ft W, less of a rounded shrub but adds important texture (1st picture, taken Oct 2024). Mature size: 5-6 ft T x W Minimum temperature: 0° F
