Pea-type cream-yellow flowers form large, lush, cascading, lupinesque spikes that bloom April to June. They're pollinated by bumblebees, digger bees, mason bees, butterflies, and moths! Pollinator plant par excellence and long-lived! Notable seed pods develop in late summer. Doesn't like to be transplanted due to its long taproot. A native of midwestern U. S. prairies and dry, open woods, it would appreciate our NW oak savanna habitat or a low-maintenance section of your garden. Rarely offered species!
