This striking thermometer is named after the 16th-17th century philosopher Galileo, who discovered that the density of a liquid changes as temperature varies.  Four glass spheres are filled with different color liquids and weighted with metal tags--the spheres rise and fall according to the temperature of the surrounding air. Full instructions on how to read thermometer are included.  Made with sealed glass balls, metal tags, and a beechwood base.
