This is an exceptionally rare set of eight original Eames Pivoting Arm Chairs with Casters (PACC) designed by Charles and Ray Eames, produced by Herman Miller. The chairs are unique for two main reasons. The first is that they retain original Alexander Girard-designed Mexicotton Stripe fabric. Girard was the legendary textile designer, who worked closely with Herman Miller and the Eames.' The second notable part is that this is an original and intact set of eight with tags to trace their provenance to the Pilot Life Insurance Company in Sedgefield, North Carolina, where these came from. Pilot did notable building projects on their campus in 1965, concluding in 1967 and these were presumably part of their furnishings acquired circa 1967. As far as future use, these PACC chairs can be used either with rolling bases or with interchangeable glides, so they would functional nicely as dining chairs also.
