Hordeum vulgare. Hulless grains are great for home-scale use. Lacking the inedible hull like most grains, hulless is easily threshed by stomping or flailing after drydown. The grain is then ready after winnowing for great winter soups. This variety comes to us from Tom Jerde of Westby,WI. Sow early Spring. Wait till plants are brown to thresh. Watch for bird damage.
