The lush photographs used for this birdhouse show the forest floor habitat near Sally's home and studio in the Connecticut River Valley. Mosses, Skunk Cabbage, Arisaema triphyllum (Jack-in-the-Pulpit), and the Monotropa uniflora (Ghost Pipes) that grow along with the Beech trees that are common in the area, all grace the exterior of this birdhouse. Lovely in any setting, Sally especially enjoys this one where its details can be enjoyed as a way of bringing the forest floor a little closer to a patio or deck. I build these birdhouses using 3/4" plywood and metal panels that I design and make in my studio. The panels will never rust. They are made from the same UV-protected metal as a novelty license plate, like those for a university or ball team.
