Artist StatementI visited Bodie State Historic Park a few years ago and have had a soft spot for it ever since. Bodie is located down a dusty, pot-holed, thirteen-mile road off of State Highway 395. It is a mining town from the late 1800s and today stands in a state of arrested decay. It has a fantastic atmosphere about it and really feels like you've just stepped back in time. I liked the idea of illustrating the town in a quirky manner. I've set the buildings and windows at odd angles, respresenting their ramshackle state, while some lights are still on ‰ÛÒ as if the miners are still there, watching. ‰ÛÓ Lloyd Smith
