Dia de Muertos Sculptures by Patrick Murillo
Patrick Murillo’s whimsical Día de Muertos sculptures are a celebration of Chicano culture, crafted with a vibrant blend of humor, tradition, and sustainability. He remembers one of his first toys was a skeleton puppet his mom purchased for him while on a Mexico trip. Ever since, he has felt connected to Dia de Muertos and has been creating his one-of-a-kind paintings and sculptures for decades. These are each one-of-a-kind. Patrick spent hours creating them in his Phoenix studio. Each piece is handmade from recycled materials: Wire Cardboard Papier-mâché Found objects All hand-painted and sealed with varnish. Signed by the artist. From detailed hats to colorful clothing, these expressive sculptures celebrate Dia de Muertos and the cycle of life. They are special pieces to display and cherish all year round. Whether it’s a joyful paletero, a festive mariachi, or another cherished Catrina, each sculpture tells a story of community, celebration, and the enduring spirit of Día de Muert
