The wood species is a Strangler Fig, which is actually two trees that have grown together to become one. It symbolizes our efforts as a design company to facilitate a meaningful space for human connection. Our collaborations in Malawi allow us to build long lasting relationships with artisans, specifically in Lilongwe, the capital of the country. Our ultimate goal is to build a design school in Malawi. This will enable us to share skill sets that we have learned in America, with so many talented artisans in East Africa. There really is no precedent for this type of dining table top.
