Öko-Caribe (“eco- Caribe” in German) in the Duarte province of the Dominican Republic produced a wonderfully consistent and flavorful cacao that continues to win quality awards. Adriano de Jesus Rodriguez and Gualberto Acebey Torrejon are the owners of this certified organic operation that works to maintain personal relationships with the 165 farmers who produced over 500 tons of cacao each year.We love the “chocolatey” and berry-like fruitiness to this wonderful chocolate, which also has a hint of cinnamon.
