The work is the result of a commission from the University of Texas at Dallas School of Arts & Humanities for a premiere performance by Rachel Calloway and the Amernet Quartet. Harlequin’s Rainbow is a companion piece to Arnold Schoenberg’s 1912 Pierrot Lunaire, of the same length, for reciter and chamber ensemble.
